Chapter 3: Increasing Time Awareness

Building an Internal Sense of Time
In this chapter, students learn to tune into their “internal clocks”—that natural sense of time passing that helps us stay on track throughout the day. Through engaging and practical activities, they'll practice guessing the time, spotting clocks, and setting timers to help them feel how long tasks actually take. They’ll also explore how everyday routines are made up of smaller steps, helping them understand how time gets used up. By building this awareness, students strengthen their ability to manage time, stay focused, and shift smoothly between tasks.

Lesson 11: Catching Time
This lesson helps students strengthen their ability to sense the passage of time during daily activities. By practicing how to “catch time” before it runs out, students learn to divide their attention—staying focused on a task while also remaining aware of how time is passing. This skill supports better pacing, helps reduce rushing, and improves the ability to meet deadlines and transition smoothly to the next activity.

Lesson 13: Sensing How the Time Fills Up for Familiar Tasks
Students will learn to see and feel the subtasks and the movement of time involved in everyday activities. This awareness helps them more accurately predict how long tasks will take and recognize potential time-related challenges, supporting better planning and prioritization.

Lesson 14: Sensing How the Time Fills Up for Your Tasks
Students will grow their ability to visualize time as a volume and to see how time will fill up when they are carrying out their daily tasks. This will help them plan more accurately and adjust their plans as needed to avoid being late or feeling rushed.
